The Last of Us was one of the most emotionally-driven games to date, and the music playing during all of its poignant scenes were a big part of its emotional impact. Wonderful themes, imaginative instrumentation, great memories of playing the game through 10 years ago now. Featuring all five acoustic covers from the game's pre-release marketing, or the game itself, this stunning collection of acoustic songs is an essential companion to the original soundtrack album, performed by Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel), and guitarist Chris Rondinella. Santaolalla is also known for his work on Brokeback Mountain and Babel, for which he both won the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

But the quality of the pressing is poor, there are cracks (I knew it was going to be of poor quality) it’s a real shame! Mondo, in proud partnership with Milan Records , Naughty Dog and HBO, are honored to unveil an exclusive color variant of Gustavo Santaolalla and David Fleming ’s score to the hit show THE LAST OF US: SEASON 1 .His synth contributions to the soundtrack to PART II might be the most terrifying, underlining the true physical and psychological horror that players face.

What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U. The soundtrack is set to include both the original soundtrack from the base game, as well as the soundtrack to the prequel DLC, The Last of Us: Left Behind. Fans of this recording method and The Last of Us will be happy to know that the game is also getting the vinyl treatment.
The hype sticker on my copy has the same information as the gold one, but it’s silver and has the ‘at the movies’ logo on top with a smaller ‘music on vinyl’ logo underneath it. In the original, the plucky guitar performance by Gustavo Santaolalla almost singlehandedly took the post-apocalyptic horror narrative of the game and grounded it firmly in the western genre. For PART II, with dual revenge narratives and opposing perspectives, the games team brought on an additional composer to bring another sonic soundscape into the mix: Mac Quayle. Fans who are awaiting more information on the film version of The Last of Us, as well as the rumored The Last of Us sequel, won't find much consolation in this record.In celebration of this Sunday’s annual The Last of Us Day, Mondo, in partnership with Sony Masterworks and Naughty Dog, are proud to present the premiere physical release of an all-new vinyl titled, The Last of Us Part II: Covers and Rarities.
The vinyl version of The Last of Us soundtrack, entitled The Last of Us 4XLP OST, was announced on the Mondo Twitter feed, as a release exclusive to them. Even at its most aggressive, I wanted the music to feel derived from the real world - bowed steel, cracking wood - these are sounds for a civilization that has rusted and warped. Featured are score tracks by composer Gustavo Santaolalla, with additional music by David Fleming as well as songs by Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Jessica Mazin and Nick Offerman. This pressing, the whole presentation, the whole package makes this reissue an a absolutely gorgeous tribute to one of the most beautiful brilliantly executed soundtracks I have ever heard!Of the soundtrack, composer Gustavo Santaolalla says, “Creating the music for the HBO series based on the video game THE LAST OF US was, in a way, an expansion of what we have developed and recorded for the first installment of the game. No surface noise (I had a couple of pops and cracks, but after a good cleaning they disappeared),warm, you can almost feel and taste all the colours and textures of the game while LISTENING. This is the premiere physical release of a collection of covers recorded for the hit 2020 game, titled: The Last of Us Part II: Covers and Rarities.
