About this deal

Can vegans eat dark chocolate digestives? If so, then how harmful are they for them? They have the legal right to do so. These biscuits contain vegan ingredients such as dark chocolate and wheat flour. Animals that have been fed them, such as milk and eggs, are not permitted to participate in this process. Even if there are dairy and animal products that could be found in dark chocolate, you can still tell if it’s vegan. Almost two-thirds of all chocolate sales are made up of chocolate, which is the most popular type of chocolate. Certainly! You can double or even triple the recipe if you want to make a larger batch of hob nobs. Make sure you have enough baking trays and space in your oven to accommodate the additional dough. It may also require a slightly longer baking time, so keep an eye on them as they cook.

The company introduced the world to the biscuits by marketing them as “Hokkobs” in 1985. A digestive biscuit is made of rolled and jumbo oats, and it is marketed as such. Despite the fact that the original Hobnobs are vegan, there are no animal ingredients in them, only vegetable oil derived from palm fruit, which is highly controversial for its impact on the environment and animal lives. Palm oil has a bad reputation, which is due to its use in pollutive mono-crops that kill animals, and the fact that it is necessary for critical habitats (rain forests) to be bulldozed. Between 1999 and 2015, 100,000 Bornean orangutans died as a result of the demand for conventional palm oil. While I find it extremely difficult to avoid palm oil, I do attempt to minimize its consumption, particularly because I make an effort to avoid processed foods (and many contain palm oil). Conclusion A blog post about biscuits isn’t complete without a debate about dunking. We’re not sure how scientific this is, but dunking is supposed to affect not only the texture of the biscuit but the taste too: dipping your biccy dissolves the sugar and releases more flavour. Sounds legit.

9. Maryland Vegan Cookies

Pour the mixture onto the prepared pan and use a spatula to spread into an even layer. Let cool for 30 minutes. 5. Roll the dough into small balls in your hands and pop them on the baking tray. Squish them down until they’re the size you want them. Don’t forget to leave plenty of room between the hobnobs as they’ll spread when they cook. Digestives are normally heavy on the butter but Tesco has kindly made some that taste just as good, are totally dunkable and happen to be completely vegan-friendly. 6. Lotus Biscuits Have you heard about a vegan Hobnob? This was something I was also very excited about. Needless to say, I was overjoyed to learn that McVities had released a gluten-free version of this classic biscuit.

Absolutely! Feel free to add your favourite mix-ins to the hob nobs. You can add chocolate chips, dried fruits, or coconut to enhance the flavour and texture. Just be mindful of any dietary restrictions or allergies when choosing your mix-ins. If you don't have coconut oil or prefer not to use it, you can substitute it with an equal amount of vegan butter or margarine. This will still give your hob nobs a rich and buttery taste. It wouldn’t be a healthy option if you chose a vegan butter instead as it will be made with refined seed oils, which is inflammatory. You could top the biscuits with toasted hazelnuts instead of almonds and use hazelnut flour instead of almond flour in this recipe. Just toast the hazelnuts first and then blend them in a Nutri bullet like the almond flour.

Stir in the oats, flour and baking powder and give it a good mix until you can form a ball with the mix.

As well as the spring bank holiday, today is also National Biscuit Day, but choose carefully as your preference of baked goods could cost you more depending on which option you go for.

Instructions

The original, chocolate chip and gluten-free Hobnob biscuits are what you would call ‘accidentally vegan’. That means that although they are suitable for vegans, they were not intentionally made to be vegan-friendly. Are there any vegan chocolate Hobnobs?

I’ve made my feelings on Hobnobs perfectly clear when I gave them a 19th place positioning in this list, but with the addition of chocolate, they’re an entirely different ballgame. Chocolate makes everything better. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, all of these mealtimes can be improved with chocolate. So can a biscuit as weak as a Hobnob reclaim some dignity with the addition of a chocolate coating? It absolutely bloody well can, yes. Chocolate Hobnobs taught me to love again. They are delicious, albeit a bit crummy in their aftermath.THEY ARE BISCUITS PLEASE JUST HEAR ME OUT OKAY STOP SHOUTING THANK YOU. Marshmallow and chocolate on a BISCUIT base. Ergo, they are biscuits and what’s more is they are magnificent. The individual foil wrappers add to the spectacle that Tea Cakes demand. They are delicious and a fun treat to consume. Often forgotten in this hectic world, Tea Cakes are a vital part of modern society. Please, I beg you, make some time to consume a Tea Cake before the week is out. You deserve it. Give one to a friend. Phone a distant family member. Kiss a stranger’s baby. Live your goddamn life.
